ICC's 24th Annual Landscape & Garden Day
This year's Landscape & Garden Day at Illinois Central College continued the event's 24-year tradition, but with a new twist, on Saturday, September 11. Special guest Biker Billy Hufnagle, cookbook author and cooking show host, gave two keynote sessions highlighting his recipes and wild cooking methods. Biker Billy is also the namesake of a Burpee hot pepper.
Planned activities were from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. and included other cooking demonstrations, tours of the ICC arboretum and Tri-County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, displays by area garden clubs, nurseries, and landscapers, photography contest display, children's activities, and plant sale.
Admission was free. Plant tours of the ICC arboretum began at 9:30 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. and were led by ICC's Glenn Herold. Lunch was available for purchase from the ICC honor society, Phi Theta Kappa.
